Central Coast have confirmed the signing of former Young Socceroo Matthew Fletcher until the end of the 2016-17 A-League season.
Fletcher has been seeking a new club since returning to Australia after several years in England in development squads of clubs such as Sunderland, Sheffield Wednesday and Hull City.
The 23-year-old has been training with the Mariners since before Christmas and coach Tony Walmsley says he's been impressed by Fletcher's attitude.
"He needed to work hard for this opportunity after time out through injury and has shown a real appetite and dedication to his craft," Walmsley said.
"His potential excites me. He has all the makings of a top class striker and we expect him to start to fulfil that potential and be a great contributor to the Mariners' future success."
Fletcher, who two goals in 10 Australian Under-20 appearances, will be eligible for selection for Saturday's clash with Western Sydney.
That game also looms as a potential debut for marquee signing and former Liverpool and Spain star Luis Garcia.
