These two teams along side Sydney FC can lay claim to being the most inconsistent teams across the A-League. The Mariners have only won back to back games once this season and will be looking to repeat this feat tonight.

Melbourne like the Mariners are not in the greatest form, losing 4-0 against their bitter rivals the Heart last week and losing 4-2 after being 2-0 up against Guangzhou Evergrande in the Champions League last Wednesday night.

Key Players.
Central Coast Mariners: Kim Seung-yong will be the key player for the Mariners in this match. With Marcos Flores out injured and Michael McGlinchey on loan at Vegalta Sendai, Kim will play a major role in the Mariners charge to the finals, and this match will prove no different. His combination with Mitchell Duke will be vital if the Mariners are to get a result out of this match. Victory need to be careful around the edge of the box as Kim has proven he is a dead-ball specialist.

Melbourne Victory: Gui Finkler will have to play a key role if Victory are to get anything out of this match. With Tom Rogic and Mark Milligan away†on†Socceroos duty, it will be up to Finkler and his combination with Thompson and Troisi to produce a positive result for the Victory. His skill around the dead ball will be something the Mariners will have to be aware of during the match.

Both teams have struggled to keep a clean sheet this season, with the Mariners only keeping a clean sheet 7 times and Victory only keeping a clean sheet 5 times in 22 games. It doesn't help the case that both teams are missing key defenders in Eddy Bosnar (Central Coast) and Nick Ansell (Melbourne). Both teams will be looking to exploit the defensive weaknesses of both sides, and the team that can exploit this weakness will be well on their way to produce a positive result.

Difficult game to predict given the inconsistent form of both teams, Iím going to sit on the fence and say 1-1 with goals to Mitchell Duke and James Troisi.
